In 2011 Alloyfold responded to a tender request from the Wellington City Council to provide seating for the Wellington Indoor Community Sports Centre. After presenting a few options to the council, the AF31 was chosen for the 630 chair installation, with roughly half fixed to the floor and the other half moveable. This seating had to be lightweight, strong, and non-marking to protect the floor.
In order to satisfy the design brief we made some custom modifications to our products: we extended the moveable foot for the free standing seating model and improved the mounting system to satisfy the Council's requirements. Alloyfold's team produced detailed CAD drawings for our factory, and saw the modified products through from manufacture to final installation. We worked closely with the project's architects and designers in order to produce the ideal seating plan for the space.
Two staff from our head office travelled to Wellington to ensure that the seats were installed to the highest standards.
